Halloween Pretzels are next-level spooky! These 3-ingredient spider webs covered in homemade creepy chocolate spiders are scarily easy to make. Grab pretzel sticks, dark chocolate, white chocolate and your favorite spider candy mold, because it’s TIME TO BUILD!
For The Spider Web Frame (White Chocolate Pretzels):
Prep baking sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. (Tip: tape the parchment paper to secure it to the tray.)
Melt white chocolate:Add white chocolate chips to a microwave safe bowl. Microwave in 30 second intervals until melted. (Tip: After every interval, stir with a spoon.)
Coat pretzels: Add 1 pretzel to the bowl at a time. Fully coat the pretzel in white chocolate. (Tip: Scrape the icing spatula against the side of the bowl to remove excess chocolate.) Using the icing spatula, add the pretzel to the parchment paper. Repeat until all pretzels are coated. Place the baking sheet in the fridge. Let the white chocolate fully set.
Cut pretzels: Remove the white chocolate pretzels from the fridge. Cut 15 pretzel sticks in half. Cut 15 pretzel sticks into 4 equal sections.
For The Spider Web Base (Dark Chocolate Circles):
Prep baking sheet: On parchment paper, draw 6 circles that are 3.5 inches in diameter. (Tip: I like using a circle cookie cutter to keep it consistent, but you can eyeball it). Flip the parchment paper and tape it to the baking sheet.
Melt dark chocolate chips: Add dark chocolate chips to a microwave safe bowl. Microwave in 30 second intervals until melted. (Tip: After every interval, mix with a spoon.)
Build the dark chocolate base: Using a spoon, add 1 tablespoon of melted dark chocolate to each circle on the parchment paper. Move the spoon in circular motions to create a chocolate circle. (Tip: add any remaining chocolate to each circle, a thicker chocolate base will support the spider web frame better).
While the dark chocolate is still wet: add the spider web frame (ie. white chocolate pretzels.) to the base. Watch the recipe video to see how.
For The Spider:
Prep the pretzel sticks: Coarsely chop the pretzel sticks.
Melt dark chocolate chips: Add dark chocolate chips to a microwave safe bowl. Microwave in 30 second intervals until melted. (Tip: After every interval, mix with a spoon.)
Add melted chocolate to spider mold: Using a small spoon, pour melted chocolate into each section of the spider mold so it’s filled halfway.
Drop in the pretzels: Using your fingers, add a few pieces of the coarsely chopped pretzel sticks to each spider.
More chocolate please: Using a small spoon, pour melted chocolate into each section of the spider mold until it reaches the top.
Even out the chocolate: Gently shake the spider mold so that the chocolate evenly spreads out. (Use: I like to use a toothpick to remove any remaining air bubbles).
